Hogans Road

This home features stabilised earth brick walls, exposed hardwood lintels and suspended timber floors. The living area was designed around the stereo system, with the round room allowing the speakers to be well away from walls and windows. The high timber lined cathedral ceiling lends a sense of space and is cool in summer.

Recycled hardwood was used for the ridge beam and lintels, including the curved window carpentry in the main bedroom, while the extensive windows and the external doors are jarrah.

The solar hot water is boosted by the wood burning stove and the grid connected solar system covers the electricity usage, while a reed bed recycles waste water onto the orchard.
